Individuals of an Italian family of burglars who stole more than £1.2 million valued of goods, among them from former Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak, have been mandated to pay back only £1 each.

Brothers Valentino Nikolov and Giacomo, their sister Jela and her child Charlie travelled to the north-east of England to burgle three houses in April 2024.

The group of four were jailed for between six and 10 years in May 2025.

At a criminal assets proceeding at the court, Jela Jovanovic and the brothers Nikolov were instructed to repay £1 per person while Charlie must pay over a thousand pounds.

Details of the Burglaries

The court previously heard the group came by ferry in the United Kingdom on March 27, 2024 and employed a RV as their "headquarters", which they parked at a service area and Durham service service stations while utilizing another car to search for targets and execute thefts.

On March 31 they took more than one million pounds of goods including designer clothing, purses, jewelry and a honor from a residence on a street in Jesmond, Newcastle, while the owners were on holiday.

The next evening, the crew broke into a house on a private road in Whitburn, and stole luxury bags, valuables and shoes worth over one hundred thousand pounds.

Following surveillance of the football club's facility for two days, they then struck at the home of Sweden player Alexander Isak in Darras Hall, Ponteland on 4 April, taking £10,000 in money, sixty-eight thousand pounds valued of jewellery and the striker's one hundred twenty thousand pound luxury car.

Legal Hearings and Sentencing

Valentino had pleaded not guilty to the burglary plot but was found guilty by jurors, while his three relations had all entered admissions to the identical accusation.

At the proceeds of crime hearing, lawyer Daniel Cordey said each of the defendants had profited from their crimes to the amount of over £1.2 million, which was determined by what the victims said they had had stolen.
